Are male or female Pomeranians better?

Neither male or female Pomeranians are better. However, as they do have slightly different temperaments, you may prefer a male or a female, depending on which one will best fit your lifestyle.

Although it’s not an exact science, male Pomeranian owners report that their boys tend to be:

  • Positive attention seekers
  • Cuddly – even clingy.
  • Curious, energetic and playful.
  • Bonds with the whole family, not just one person.
  • Sometimes unfriendly with other male dogs, but very friendly with female dogs.
  • Quite territorial
  • Easily distracted, but very motivated by food.

On the other hand, female Pomeranians are generally:

  • Full of energy, brave and curious.
  • Typically attached to one special person and protective of them.
  • Friendly with other dogs and animals.
  • Fairly independent
  • Less playful than males.
  • Easier to train because they can stay focused
  • Wary of children and strangers

Both genders have their advantages – it really depends on the kind of personality you want your ideal pet to have.
