Neither male or female Pomeranians are better. However, as they do have slightly different temperaments, you may prefer a male or a female, depending on which one will best fit your lifestyle.
Although it’s not an exact science, male Pomeranian owners report that their boys tend to be:
- Positive attention seekers
- Cuddly – even clingy.
- Curious, energetic and playful.
- Bonds with the whole family, not just one person.
- Sometimes unfriendly with other male dogs, but very friendly with female dogs.
- Quite territorial
- Easily distracted, but very motivated by food.
On the other hand, female Pomeranians are generally:
- Full of energy, brave and curious.
- Typically attached to one special person and protective of them.
- Friendly with other dogs and animals.
- Fairly independent
- Less playful than males.
- Easier to train because they can stay focused
- Wary of children and strangers
Both genders have their advantages – it really depends on the kind of personality you want your ideal pet to have.
