Yes, Australian shepherds can be left alone. But as they’re such a sociable breed, they can start to feel lonely and become anxious when their family is away for long periods. So they shouldn’t be left alone for more than four to six hours on a regular basis.
Puppies can only be left for much shorter periods because they’ll need the toilet more often, but also because they can become destructive when bored or anxious.
