What problems do beagles have?

Beagles have health problems such as ear infections, cherry-eye, and allergies.

Their large floppy ears pick up and trap dirt, so are prone to infection. Regular cleaning can help to prevent this issue.

A condition known as ‘cherry-eye’ can also affect beagles. This happens when the tear gland prolapses and becomes visible.

Beagles can also develop allergies to certain foods, shampoos, and even household cleaning products. If you notice that your beagle is displaying symptoms such as:

  • Excessive scratching
  • Biting paws or other areas
  • Skin rashes
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Fur loss

Try to identify and remove the trigger. If you’re unsure what’s causing the problem, consult your veterinarian for advice.
