You will rarely find anyone who is not a canine lover. A dog is not just a man’s best friend, it can also be the most loved companion. Not surprisingly, we find them in many cartoon shows, comic books, television, and even in movies. Dogs have inspired us to produce many masterpieces. Many of our four-legged buddies are often as famous and popular as the movie stars. Some of these movies couldn’t have become so famous without our canine friends.
Here are some popular dog characters from cartoons with an insight into what breeds they are.
-
Scooby-Doo
Scooby-Doo is perhaps the most popular cartoon dog character. The pooch is a goofy and huge Great Dane. The name of the show, Scooby Doo, Where Are You!, comes from the name of the dog. This hugely popular television show ran from 1969 to 1978 originally with many remakes, including movies, games, and merchandise.
Scooby-Doo is a frightened puppy in the show that travels with its teenage friends in a bright green van and solves various funny and seemingly paranormal mysteries. Snoopy
Snoopy is also equally famous and easily recognizable. This Beagle is a character from the comic strip Peanuts, which was launched in 1950. Snoopy doesn’t talk much, but his presence still matters. Snoopy is loyal, good-natured, and imaginative. Sometimes, Snoopy can also be lazy and selfish. He has many fantasy lives, including being a college student, an author, a flying ace in World War I, and an attorney. Snoopy’s image is easily recognized as wearing goggles, a scarf, and an aviator’s helmet as seeming like a World War British Army officer.
In most of his fantasies, Snoopy pretends to be world-famous but always fails in the end. His novels are not published. He is always shot down by an imaginary rival enemy flying ace.

Pluto
Pluto is famous for being the pet dog of Mickey Mouse, which makes him possibly the oldest dog in cartoons. Pluto first appeared in the Mickey Mouse animation cartoon The Chain Gang of 1930. He eventually appeared in 24 Mickey Mouse films before Pluto had his own series in 1937. Together, you can see Pluto in 89 animations from 1930 to 1953.
Pluto is a medium-sized, yellow-orange colored mixed breed dog. Produced by Disney, he is a key character in Mickey Mouse cartoons, along with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Goofy. Together, they are considered to be the “Sensational Six” of Disney. Pluto is the only character that isn’t dressed like a human. Most cartoon dogs do human things, but Pluto is different. He does not wear clothes and doesn’t speak. He is one of the most dog-like cartoon dogs.

Goofy walks clumsily and speaks in a clumsy voice. Goofy gets its name from its goofy actions. Here is a guide for different dog breeds, including goofy dogs.
