Can beagles be left alone?

Yes, beagles can be left alone.  However, the ideal home for a beagle is one where someone is around most of the time.  They are pack animals by nature, so if they’re left alone repeatedly for long periods, they can become depressed and anxious.

If you’re looking for a dog that can be left alone for more than four or five hours per day, if you regularly work long hours, or travel frequently, another breed with less need for companionship may be a better choice.
